Java plum or jamun fruit, as locally called 'nerale', is native to the Indian peninsula.It is a seasonal fruit high in vitamin C. It is sourced from the neighboring Mysuru district and the jam is processed by the Orange Growers Co-operative Society for Ainmane. The jam has sweet & tart taste, best served on toast of bread with a sliver or butter.
